Conditions of entry & stay in Poland
FOR EU/EFTA CITIZEN
You can entry to the country with a valid identification card (ID) or passport.
Remember that you can stay and work in Poland for the first three months only on the basis of the id card or passport.
DO YOU WANT TO STAY MORE THAN 3 MONTHS?
In that case, it is important that register your stay before 3 months have ended.
A.
Register in municipality (in Polish called Meldunek Czasowy)
You will automatically obtain a PESEL number
Registration
(Polish acronym for Universal Electronic System for Registration of the Population”).
For this, you must have:
- ID or passport
- a registration form (signed also by the apartment owner or an authorised person from the hotel/dormitory)
- an apartment rent agreement or hotel/dormitory reservation document

Registration
The registration procedure is easy and You will be issued a cost-free certificate with non-limited period of validity.
For this, you must have:
- ID or passport,
- health insurance Certificate,
- an application form
- the agreement or acceptance letter from the institution where the studies/Research/ PhD/ are being conducted

FOR NON EU/EFTA CITIZENS
You need to be able to justify the purpose and conditions of the planned stay in Poland, for this,
you will to provide the following documents in case of the border control:
- Passport
- Health insurance
- Prove of necessary financial resources
- Valid entrance Document:
- Visa-free movement (for stay max 90 days)
- Residence Card/Visa issued by another Schengen country (for stay max 90 days)
- Visa to Poland (type C or D) (for stay max 365 days)
Depending of the purpose of you stay and your origin country there will be different documents you need to provide to get your entry document to Poland,

Remember that registration is compulsory if you want to stay more than 3 months in Poland, and registration must be done before that time.
D.
Apply for a residence permit
Remember you need to start the application submission at least 4 months before the expire date of your visa. (it is recommended to apply earlier due to currently prolonged procedures, lasting at least 4 months.)
